Creating a class

Last Updated: Oct 10, 2018 10:33AM EDT
A class is a private learning space on the Storybird platform that lets Educators create student accounts, issue assignments, and easily track and manage the activity of your students. In short, it's a place for you and your students to enjoy writing and reading stories.

If you signed up as an educator, you already have a class! Good work. Click on 'Classes' in the top navigation menu from anywhere on the site, and you'll be taken to the Educator dashboard which hosts your classes.

To create a new class
Click the 'Class' dropdown menu and click "Add a class".
Set the name and grade level when prompted
Set the class Completion date
Your class has been created! You can now add Students and Connect Parents

How many students can I add to my class(es)?
As many as you want! There's no limit to the number of students you can enrol, or the number of classes you can have.

Can I add students with existing Storybird accounts to my class?
Yes. Students with existing Storybird student accounts can be given your 'Class Passcode' in order to join your class. Keep in mind that students can only be in one class at a time.

How do other teachers use my account?
This is not currently possible.

How can I share my class with parents?
Invite them to view their child's stories by adding their email address, or by printed paper invitation. You'll find both options under the 'Students' tab. Please note that for privacy reasons, they will be able to read their child's stories, but not the stories of the entire class.
